Cherry Creek Republican Women was founded in 1954 by a group of Republican women activists who volunteered in the newly established Cherry Creek School District. These dedicated activists believed in a Republican club with a dual focus that emphasized political education and involvement in the school district. In addition, they wanted to be involved in charitable and community service endeavors. It was their deep belief that one could not survive without the other.
The founders felt that there were many new residents in the booming suburban areas of metropolitan Denver who had an interest in politics but not much background knowledge of the Republican Party. They had chosen to support the party when they volunteered and voted for "their man Ike" - President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Those women set high goals of political and community involvement. In the best tradition of the National Federation of Republican Women, Cherry Creek Republican Women "set no boundaries geographically from which members could come to us." Today our members are predominately from Arapahoe County, but also from the metropolitan area as well as out of state.
In this, our 65th year, volunteerism continues to define our organization. Please join us and become a part of this rich heritage coupled with continuing innovation.
